Hours: Flexible

Annually Pay Rate: $47,120 

Hourly Rate: $22.65

Locations: West Roxbury, VFW Parkway

Provide direct services to adults with ASD (no ID) and their families, who are referred to Lifeworks by the State of MA, Department of Developmental Services (DDS), as well as, help staff programs and provide informational resources to families.  Protect and enhance the rights of individuals and promote individuals as capable, valued, and accepted members of the community.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Meet with new and existing referrals and their families to assess their needs and establish an open line of communication.
  • Coordinate with DDS Autism Service Coordinators and providers to ensure a team approach to services
  • Meet with certain referrals on a scheduled basis, including home visits and community locations
  • Establish person-centered goals & objectives with individuals that are referred for DDS Coaching Services
  • Provide coaching and support to help individuals meet their goals & objectives
  • Collaborate with Lifeworks Clinical Team to provide professional mental health support
  • Help individuals and families understand and access services, benefits, and resources available to them, including Mental Health Services.
  • Help develop and organize activities and programs with the purpose of improving social skills and community engagement for adults.
  • Assist in the facilitation of workshops & training on topics pertinent to this ASD population.
  • Develop material and outreach efforts to the Adult ASD population, including newsletters, community offerings, and current research.
  • Collaborate with other Community Organizations including other Autism & Family Support Centers, coaching providers, and employers.
  • Report on metrics established by DDS.
  •  Ability to work a flexible schedule to meet the needs of individuals and facilitate programs.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills & ability to multitask and prioritize tasks with attention to detail.
  •  Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Travel throughout DDS Metro Region.

Education and/or Experience Requirements:

  • A copy of a Covid-19 vaccination of two shots will be required
  • New hires who have not received the booster shot, will agree to a targeted date for the booster shot, based on the date of their last vaccine.
  • BA/BS required.
  • 2+ years of direct experience working with adults diagnosed with autism and their families.  Understanding mental health challenges and services is a plus.
  • Valid driver’s license, CPR, First Aid.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently.
  •  Ability to demonstrate effective oral and written communication skills.
  •  Ability to work collaboratively with a wide variety of partners.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.  Ability to motivate and educate individuals and families.
  • Demonstrated ability to use independent judgment, tact, and discretion.
  • Demonstrated ability to negotiate effectively under multiple deadline pressure.
  • Knowledge of PC and/or Mac computers and software.
  • Knowledge of current topics related to individuals with autism.
