70th Anniversary Events
Lifeworks’ 70th Anniversary Inspiring Possibilities Jubilee was the centerpiece of our year-long celebration marking seven decades of service and advocacy. The event was an evening of joy and inspiration, expertly emceed by Heather Hegedus (refer to the program book for Heather’s full bio). Lifeworks’ impact over the years was celebrated through an engaging video presentation, interactive timelines, a photo showcase, a room filled with families, staff, sponsors, and friends. Our Artists Gallery and Theatre Arts performances highlighted the incredible talents of individuals who participate in our programs.
A special tribute was given to Leo Sarkissian, who retires as Executive Director of the Arc of Massachusetts after 33 years of tireless service. Leo’s remarkable journey in advocating for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities began at the Arc of South Norfolk (now Lifeworks) in 1981 (refer to the program book for Leo’s full bio).
We also welcomed Maura Sullivan, who will take on the role of Chief Executive Officer of the Arc of Massachusetts beginning November 2nd. Maura’s appointment marks a historic moment, as she becomes the first parent of children with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) to lead The Arc since Pearl Birnbaum Hurwitz, the organization’s inaugural director, in 1954.
Throughout the year, generously presented by our major sponsor Prio Wealth, Lifeworks has hosted a series of commemorative events. These included a Legislative Breakfast co-hosted with Charles River Center, a Cornhole Tournament, the Social and Recreation Program Banquet, the Scholarship Awards Reception, the Jubilee itself, and two weeks of Staff Appreciation events. And the celebration continues, with more to come—including the Employment Services Banquet and the Legacy Club Induction Ceremony.
We would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to our many corporate and family sponsors who have made this milestone year possible (listed below).

Thank you for being part of this milestone year!
